Welcome to my watercolor collection
"Creek & Break", a series born from unexpected adversity and the healing power of art.
After a broken wrist temporarily halted my ability to draw, I discovered watercolor as a transformative and restorative medium. The unique flow and luminosity of these paintings represent a deeply personal journey, offering a new way to connect with my artistic passion.
This collection is a visual timeline of my own journey toward healing. Each painting is a tangible record of my recovery from a broken wrist, with the evolution of my technique directly mirroring my physical progress.
Weeks 1 and 2 are intentionally unlisted, representing a time of rest and reflection when creativity took a backseat. "No3." marks the beginning of three significant pieces, symbolizing my progress through a transformative six-week healing experience.
In the initial stages, with limited mobility, I embraced a style of broad washes and soft, layered colors, allowing the paint to flow freely to the canvas edges. As my hand regained strength, my brushstrokes grew more confident, adding depth, movement, and a new sense of direction to each piece.
The final works in this series showcase a return to technical control and a rich, detailed palette, reflecting my complete physical recovery. This collection is a testament to the profound connection between an artist's body and their work, and to the unwavering determination to create, no matter what challenges arise.
